What can go wrong with a bathroom renovation — and how we prevent it
- Failed waterproofing. Leaks show up as a stained ceiling a year later. We install a proper membrane system and inspect it before any tile goes down.
- Rot or damage behind the old tile. Subfloor and wall damage are common in older bathrooms. We open it up first and price repairs in writing before proceeding.
- Tile that is out of level. Uneven substrates telegraph through tile. We flatten the surface and set the layout from the drain outward.
- Plumbing that has to move. Relocating a toilet or shower drain affects the subfloor and cost. We decide this at design, not mid-demo.
